Michael Okoth is a computer student at Manna Vocational Centre. He has completed his Secondary School Education and is aspiring to join the University. In a few months he hopes to enroll in campus and study Nutrition and Dietetics.

With digital literacy becoming a mandatory skill worldwide, Okoth made the decision to train for computer knowledge at Manna Computer School.

One of the best things he loves about training in Manna is access to resources.

Okoth, like the rest of other students in the class each accesses their own computer.

“I am delighted to study here because every student gets to use a computer and we are not sharing. This gives each of us a chance to practically train sufficiently.” The young man stated.

Manna computer program provides a dedicated computer lab with necessary hardware and software to ensure the young people from disadvantaged backgrounds access the necessary tools for learning and practice.

The tutor at Manna Computer Class, Bradox Steve, explained that more students are flocking at the school and they are rising to meet up the demands.

“We are witnessing an increasing number of students enrolling at our centre. We have had to form 3 groups each having their own session. This is ensuring that each trainee accesses a computer individually. However, moving forward we appreciate if we could have more computers so that we could combine the groups into one class. “Tutor Steve expressed.

In addition to knowledge and skills, Manna computer program improves employability and encourages entrepreneurship.

Ruth Okudo, computer alumni at Manna got promoted at work from a mere waitress to a secretary due to the knowledge she gained.

“When my boss saw that I was good with computers having graduated from Manna, I was promoted to the secretary position. This is because the role demanded that I use and apply most of my computer skills in operating various software.” Okudo elaborated.

Manna computer program is helping many young boys and girls have a brighter future.

Presently there are 32 computer students training at Manna Computer School who will be graduating by the end of the year.

We welcome support in cash or kind towards the computer class especially in adding computers and an extra printer for training.
